So I have been following my new diet for gestational diabetes and it seems like I'm eating a lot of carbs. I need to eat 225 carbs daily broken out into 3 meals of at at least 60 carbs plus 3 snacks with 15 carbs. I feel really full and uncomfortable and suspect it's too much gluten. Sure it could be the baby but this has just started since I changed my diet so I think it's more about what I'm putting in my belly than what's growing in there.
I have never been officially diagnosed for celiac disease but I need to investigate it further. The same goes for lactose intolerance. If you know of any websites that sell special products or have recipes for those with celiac disease or lactose intolerance please let me know. I'll be going to the doctor Monday night so we'll see what he says.

HI Letty
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to deal with gestastional diabetes and celiac disease, Whole foods has a ton of gluten free products and Jewel usual has them in the international isle. How have your blood sugars been? How often do you have to check them?are you just diet controlled or have the added oral meds or even insulin? Let me know if you have questions your MD should be able to give plenty of hand outs with sample meals and grocery lists if not let me know i can send you what we have for our patients.
I dont work with pregnant patients but you already know your carb breakdown so the grocery list would make life easier. Just rememeber to keep up with your exercise and just check your sugar more often so you dont go hypoglycemic. You should real sugar hard candy in your purse in case you get hypo and you cant get to any source of sugar that will always be avaiable.
Your almost there at least the diabetes should go away with the birth of "Nugget" the celiac diseae will be easier to deal with on its own. There are alot more selections of gluten free products than there used to be.
good luck with everything talk to you soon
