YUCK!

I found this photo today randomly and all I could think is YUCK!

From another blog... Doing it for the Kids is a current exhibition put on by [re] design to showcase the latest, most innovative sustainable toy designs from around the globe. Among them, the Placenta Teddy Bear by designer Alex Green. A crafty alternative for those who don’t necessarily want to eat their baby’s placenta, but want to pay their respects to the life sustaining organ by turning it into a one-of-a-kind teddy bear. Green’s ‘Twin Teddy Kit’ ‘celebrates the unity of the infant, the mother and the placenta,’ and enables preparation of the placenta so it may be transformed into a teddy bear. The placenta must be cut in half and rubbed with sea salt to cure it. After it is dried out, it is treated with an emulsifying mixture of tannin and egg yolk to make it soft and pliable. Then, you craft it into a teddy bear. But is this not quite so cuddly creation cute or cringe-worthy?

Expect The Unexpected

So late yesterday afternoon I went to the doctor for my 37 week check up. We were going to decide what day I would have my c-section and the doctor said it couldn't be before October 23 but should be before my actual due date, October 30. Then the doctor noticed the nurse's note that my blood pressure was slightly elevated and the next thing I know I'm on my way to the hospital because I might be having a baby on my birthday. Long story short, a possibility is pre-eclampsia which is common in pregnancy among teen moms or older moms that can't handle the extra volume of blood. The only cure for this is to deliver a baby. No exercise, diet or drugs cure pre-eclampsia-- just having a baby so that's why I was sent to the hospital. Since the tests at the hospital were negative last night we'll keep monitoring me and hopefully won't be back in the hospital until the end of the month.

Pre-Registration

I registered, or shall I say pre-registered, for having the baby at the hospital. We didn't know we needed to do this in advance of going to the hospital to have the baby but it's officially completed. The hospital will know how to bill our insurance.

Baby Shower

Our baby shower was last night. Thanks to all our family and friends that were able to join us and a special thanks to my mom and my sisters-in-law-- Lidija, Kim and Jennifer for putting the entire thing together. Below you'll see a few photos from the event.

Mom, Me and Kim

Melody (Jason's sister's little girl -- one of our nieces)

Isabella is in this photo (my brother's little girl-- another niece)

This gift brought tears to my eyes -- custom stockings with our names and a tree skirt. One stocking had a little "?" on it for the Nugget.

Kim ordered these cute and delicious favors from the Old Fashioned Candy store in Berwyn. (mmmmmm good!)

Subject: It's not Poker or Rock, Paper Scissors - But It's a Bet!!

Since I’ve missed the last 47 internal Poker tournaments and Rock/Paper/Scissor championships, I thought why not start another game with prize $!!

With Letty’s baby nugget moving right along, and the thrill of not knowing what the sex of the little nugget is at this point, it makes me want to wager in on some fun! (Letty – you’re obviously open to participate if you want since you’re carrying the little nugget and you have the greatest advantage of knowing these things) 

$5 Baby Gutierrez-Bujak Guess the Weight/Sex Game. Closest to the actual weight without going over + has the correct Sex of Baby-Bujak wins! ($1 of every bet will go towards a “welcome to the world” gift for Baby Gutierrez-Bujak, and the winner get’s the rest) Tie-breakers will go into a hat and randomly drawn.

If you’re in, Sandra will be collecting your $5 bets and you can email me and Sandra your Weight / Sex guesses and I’ll add you to our spreadsheet. Sandra says she takes PayPal too! HAA

Guesses should be made no later than Thursday October 8th by 5:00pm Central.

First guesses are already in:
Sandra – 9lbs 2oz / Girl
Brian B. – 8lbs. 9oz / Boy

Do we have any takers?? Good Luck!

Who Can Guess My Weight & If I’m A Boy or Girl?

Love, Baby Gutierrez-Bujak

This is what 9 months looks like...

... and that's my dear friend Diane who was in town this week for a work conference. We were roommmates and sorority sisters in college. I think she has belly envy. :o)
