Sugar Mama and Daddy

Tonight we went to visit our financial adviser Meredith. She has us on track to retire at about the age of 60. Every time I hear that I'm excited because before Meredith we were pacing to retire in our 70's. We have no desire to have to work the extra 10 years. Meredith is hosting an upcoming seminar to learn about saving for the baby's college fund. It's open to anyone that wants to attend. If you want to retire early (or figure out at what age you'll be retiring based on your current habits), learn about saving for the kids or getting a leg up in this economic environment you may want to give Meredith a call.

Doctor Update

Although we typically see Dr. Garvey, we are working on meeting all the different doctors at our practice and last night met with Dr. Moses (we have also met with Dr. Foley). He said we are mostly on track. The side effect of gestational diabetes is that the baby can get big and maybe get stuck. Some babies have big heads. Others have big shoulders and then others a big belly. Any of those three areas could cause problems if too big. We'll be getting an ultra sound mid-September to see if our nugget will be on his/her own time table or if the doctors will make a decision to go early.

Dr. Lin will see us after the ultrasound. Stay tuned.

Really Full Belly

So I have been following my new diet for gestational diabetes and it seems like I'm eating a lot of carbs. I need to eat 225 carbs daily broken out into 3 meals of at at least 60 carbs plus 3 snacks with 15 carbs. I feel really full and uncomfortable and suspect it's too much gluten. Sure it could be the baby but this has just started since I changed my diet so I think it's more about what I'm putting in my belly than what's growing in there.

I have never been officially diagnosed for celiac disease but I need to investigate it further. The same goes for lactose intolerance. If you know of any websites that sell special products or have recipes for those with celiac disease or lactose intolerance please let me know. I'll be going to the doctor Monday night so we'll see what he says.
