We'll I failed my glucose test today but I was anticipating this. For those that don't know about the glucose test it is one of the easiest test to take. You simply drink a jug of what tastes like flat organge soda or what also reminded me of Flavor Ice (remember those?) and then one hour later you have blood drawn.
Gestational diabetes is common in women over 30, Hispanic women, women with a family history of diabetes and women who are more than 20 pounds over weight. I meet all of the criteria so my doctor called me this evening to let me know I need to take the follow-up test to confirm a diagnosis of gestational diabetes and understand my next steps.
